Abstract

The crystallization of peroxide/solvent mixtures with peroxide contents from 10 to 65 wt.-% is studied between -50 and +30 degrees C up to 3 000 bar for di-tert-butylperoxide, tert-butyl peroxy-acetate, tert-butyl peroxypivalate, tert-butyl peroxy-2-ethylhexanoate, and bis(tert-butyl) peroxybutanoate with decane, octane, isododecane, isooctane, and isopar H as solvents. The liquid/solid phase behavior indicates miscibility in the liquid and immiscibility in the solid phase. With tert-butyl peroxyacetate/isododecane, in addition, liquid/liquid immiscibility occurs. A few melting pressure curves are presented for ternary systems containing either two solvents or two peroxides.
