| dc.description.abstract | In order to examine the influence of Re doping on microstructure and phase formation of Hg-1223, different series of Re-doped and undoped Hg-1223 samples were synthesized and examined by XRD and TEM. Re doping was found to accelerate the formation of Hg-1223. High nominal Re contents promote the development of Hg-1234 stacking faults. The TEM and XRD results indicate that the phase formation of Hg-1223 takes place via the Hg-1201 and Hg-1212 phase by stepwise intercalation of CaCuO2 layers. In addition to this, there are also hints for a movement of stacking faults in the c-direction which can contribute to the phase transformation of Hg-1212 into Hg-1223. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
