Abstract

In this paper, several instruments for corporate financing are analyzed regarding their ability to be used in a Peer-to-Peer-Banking context. Using an argumentative-deductive approach, we start at deriving criteria for borrowers, lenders and platform operators from the literature for evaluating instruments of corporate finance regarding their usage-potential in Peer-to-Peer-Banking. These criteria are aggregated into a catalogue which is consequently applied to instruments of corporate financing. We find that long term credits for investment financing as well as straight bond emissions are the most promising candidates for usage in a Peer-to-Peer-context. Other instruments like short-term loans for financing working capital, factoring or issuance of mezzanine capital face several constraints when mapped to Peer-to-Peer-context.
